HERITAGE ASSETS
In 2018 the Trust decided to support West Suffolk Council Planning Authority by the preparation of a gazetteer of Non-Designated Assets within the Bury St Edmunds medieval grid. While important locally these are not formally protected by Statutory Listing. The project involved surveys of some 21 streets/areas within the town centre area. This was Part 1 of the survey and was completed in March 2020.
Subsequently a survey was made of all the remaining streets and areas in the town centre conservation area, so as to include those that predate and are beyond the ‘Grid’ outside the close-knit centre. This was concluded in July 2021 and forms Part 2.
